Beautiful day!

I feel like Bono should just follow me around singing today.
Pulled off an almost 5 mile run today. Good to know I can still run a little without dying.
Drove with no a/c and the windows down.
Getting my hair done before spending time with all kinds of family. Looking forward to the rest of this almost fall day!

Helloooo Ber Months!!

1/3 of the year is definitely superior to the other 6 months. Today begins the most wonderful time of the year!
1. It is officially my birthday month! 23 days and counting...
2. I get to head to Shreveport Friday morning for 3 glorious days in observation of Labor Day. While home I get to go to PWAT for the first time, celebrate dad's birthday, and visit with all kinds of friends and family.
3. Football season starts in 8 days. Strange as it may seem, I can't wait for those boys in black and gold to kick off the regular season with a home game against the Vikings! I give the starting defense full permission to take out Brett Favre.
4. Matt said we can go to NOLA for my birthday dinner!
5. Let the Christmas shopping begin!
6. The weekend after my birthday Matt and I are taking our first vacation since the honeymoon. We're flying to Atlanta and going to two Braves games along with some other touristy stuff.
7. Emily's birthday is in October - more birthday celebrations and an excuse to bake a cake!
8. My second anniversary is in October. Can't wait to celebrate the best day of my life with Matt again.
9. Caitlin's birthday is in November. More celebration and cake!
10. Thanksgiving!! Leftovers!!
11. Black Friday. I love getting up at 4am to go shopping!
12. Christmas music!!
13. CHRISTMAS! CHRISTMAS!! CHRISTMAS!!!
14. New Years Eve. The one night a year that everyone partakes in my favorite adult beverage.

I love today.

Social Networking Overload

It had been done. During the Emmys last night I joined Twitter.

Choosing a name was definitely the hardest part. EmilyEmily suggested my old xanga name "mu4lyfe". I decided against it since only a few people would see the humor. In honor of my sweet friend, JZ who just recently went off to basic training, I chose the nickname he gave me - pronounced nay-nay-beau-beau.

In keeping with the social network overload I downloaded an app to post blog updates. As my sister advised " You don't even keep up with your blog, why do you need twitter?"

So here's to distractions from work!

God save the king of New Orleans

I miss concerts. I used to go to concerts all the time. The loud noise. The seizure inducing stage lights. The euphoria of singing along to amazing songs. Of course they were amazing - I have wonderful taste in music. Even that time in high school when I was obsessed with Tinman Jones (ok - maybe that was a bit of a weak point in my music loving history).
Here's a problem that I probably should have considered before getting married. Matt doesn't so much like concerts. And it's nearly impossible to get him to agree to go to go to one. I figured when he passed up Our Lady Peace this past fall that I was doomed to a future with no concerts. But alas! This past weekend Matt and I went to the House of Blues for an Ochsner benefit concert with Better Than Ezra. They are not one of my favorite bands, but Matt really likes them. And I was not about to pass up the opportunity to feed my concert addiction. The show was actually pretty good. The crowd was not your typical super young groupies because the tickets were a little pricey - benefit concert and all. The band played all the good old songs and made jokes all night. It was fulfilling.
I would love to say that I will be spending the evening with Michael Buble on July 14th... Who's coming with me?

You gotta give a little

I celebrated the swearing in of the new mayor of New Orleans with Swiss Bakery petit fours (I blame the name sake for the number of miniature cake heavens that I consumed.)
It all evens out in the wash. I met with ADAM at Elmwood Fitness Center for my new member fitness consultation. I am on the road hopefully working off four petit fours and the Happy Belly that I have high hopes of enjoying this weekend. The good news that is buried in the previous sentence is that I am going home this weekend! Quality sister time is ahead!
I have become marginally obsessed with the Amazon Kindle. I downloaded the free app a while ago and have no will power to step away. I'm not even sure how many books I have read. I think my husband disowned me when I found the entire Twilight series at my fingertips. Truth be told, I read more at work that week than I should have. But seriously - those books are amazing.
