This train is bound for glory

"Well, it's a party." - Country Winston

It really was. OCMS, ES&TMZ, M&S. Pretty much one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Old Crow Medicine Show started it off strong. A little Cocaine and Wagon Wheel got my feet tappin'. There was a darling group close by blowing bubbles. "Bubbles and a brass band. It doesn't get much better." - Mark Bellows

Next up was Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros. I was pretty jazzed about seeing them live. Disappointment set in when I saw how loaded Alexander and Jane were. She could barely sing at all. Alexander kept it together well enough, but he did say that Mexico City has better food than New Orleans. He was obviously high to say something so ludicrous. 40 days was fabulous, though.

There was NO disappointment in Mumford and Sons. At the cost of speaking sacrilege - it was almost spiritual. I can't pick out a particular peak because it was all so perfect. They sang strong and performed big. And I loved every minute of it!

"Our train ended here for a reason."

Take it all in

It's only Tuesday and it seems like tomorrow is the weekend. I totally feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. Except I'm a twenty-something on Railroad Revival Tour Eve. Not quite sure I am adequately prepared for this show - mentally, physically, emotionally, sleep-readily. For some reason I've developed a new habit of staying up until 11 or later. This isn't conducive to good work habits since I get up at 5:30. And yet, here I am. Still awake. Hopefully I'll pass out before 11:30 and get a good 6 hours in.
Also, there's only been 1 episode of The Voice, and I'm hooked. It's interesting to see people being judged solely on their voice. And who doesn't love Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton?! What an awesome group of judges!
In an unrelated note - I got an email from Deni tonight. She said "the shower Saturday is for ME!!! after 4 yrs it's almost unbelievable!" I am so excited for my sister. I hope her shower(s) are absolutely perfect. There's a lot of driving coming up, but I wouldn't miss this for the world.

Rare as rocking horse poo

I had the best Walmart experience ever today.
Found a good parking spot next to the garden center.
Got a buggy that wasn't jacked up.
There was hardly any people in the store.
I got almost everything on my list.
My checkout lady was very pleasant.
When I handed my receipt to the lady at the garden center door she told me "Have a blessed day." And I told her the same. Then in her broken English she told me "I am ready when it is time to go home." She was so cute. I got a ton of stuff and was there and back in an hour.
Very rare.

Success

Three family Easter celebrations
One baby shower
One wonderful church service
The weekend trips are never long enough. It seems like just when I'm getting comfortable it's time to hit the road back to New Orleans. I can't say that I'm not happy down here, but I definitely miss home. I'll be hitting the roads two more times in the next three weeks. It's time to celebrate Cala's arrival!! Matt and I got to watch the 4D video they shot on Thursday. Cala said "Please, no photos." She kept rolling over to hide her face, and the doctor kept shaking Deni's belly. She looked like an alien sometimes, but it was really cool. Especially when she smiled at us. Hopefully sometime soon I'll get to feel her kick!
Bake Cala, bake! We want you well done!!

Painful fingers

According to Matt I was not adequately focused and prepared for the Easter crawfish boil. I made the cardinal sin and got a nasty cut on my main peeling thumb. We had a big salad for dinner Wednesday night, and I caught the end of it while chopping tomatoes. No bueno. It was healing pretty nicely until I mutilated it digging into the lobster crawfish that Papa Dan snagged for us. They were delicious and demolished by the large crowd we had this year. I really love getting to spend time with friends and family that we don't see all the time. An added bonus - we all got chocolate Big Ear Bunnies this year - big hit!!
I have to go to bed now so that the Easter Bunny doesn't skip my house!

It's Friday

But Sunday's coming!!

I didn't go to the Good Friday service today, but the message a couple of years ago really stuck with me. It's one of the most positive and uplifting things that I can ever think. Yes, Christ has died. It my seem like the most horrible thing that could ever happen. But don't worry. This won't last. Something good is in store. Sunday's coming!!!

Truly thank God for Sunday.

Short Falls and Little Sins

I know that it's technically Friday, but I haven't gone to sleep yet. So it's still Thursday in my mind.
We have made it to Shreveport. My teeth are brushed. My contacts are out. And me and Ellis are in bed. Hallelujah!
Bit of advice. Do NOT stop at the Taco Bell/KFC on 415 right outside of BR. We probably would have gotten here 30 minutes sooner if we'd gone to Burger King.
My phone started ringing about 10 minutes ago while I was brushing my teeth. Matt was unloading the car and told me to come outside. There was an armadillo right outside the door in the flowerbed! We looked at it a little while and then scared it away. It was digging up stuff!
Now my eyes are drooping and Ellis is wishing that I would turn the light off.
